Amanda Thomas

Head Coach / Level III Trainer

What got me into CrossFit? A need for upper body strength! I was participating in obstacle course racing and wanted to become stronger in order to succeed on the obstacles. Better at obstacles = less burpees. As a result, I found CrossFit and loved everything about it.

What do I love most about coaching? The athletes. Those that are just starting and those that have been crossfitting for a while. I love helping people get better with movements. I love seeing their excitement when something just clicks or a heavier weight gets moved. I love helping them figure out just how strong they really are. I love helping them break down or through the barriers they have built when it comes to what they can accomplish.

Favorite workout? "The Chief". It hurts terribly, but the low rep scheme and fast pace are perfect. It's always "just 3 reps, just 6 reps, just 9 more reps" and before you realize it, it's time to rest, regroup, and go again.

CrossFit can change a person - from a shy wallflower to an energetic coach, from a bookworm to someone that can’t stop talking about movement patterns. We all talk about the magic of CrossFit, how it’s about the community and the workouts, but what it has taught me is that there are no limits. Labels and egos can fall away and we can all exercise and train together. We cheer each other on, we encourage when someone wants to stop, we praise each other’s highs, and hang on throughout the lows. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?
