We are proud of this lady!

Member of the Month Heidi Rydin

I still remember when Heidi first started. She was so strong and capable but she did not see that in herself. I'm so happy to watch her progress over the past year. She started coming just 2 times per week, then 3, and now she comes as much as we will let her...she's one we have to force rest days with. She challenges herself now and I hope she knows how truly amazing she is.  I love her devotion to keeping herself healthy for both herself and her family. She's always willing to help and a great encourager. We know you'll love getting to know more about her.

1. Tell us a little about your journey at FMCF!

When I first signed up for the 6 week body transformation program, I had NO IDEA what I was signing up for. My plan was to do the 6 weeks and then go back to my regular classes at the Y, but I liked CrossFit and the community at FMCF so much I didn't want to stop. I started with a twice a week membership, which wasn't enough, bumped it up to three times a week, kept coming four times a week so finally after last summer I realized I needed a full time membership.

2.Why did you decide to start at FMCF?

I had been doing classes at the Y for about a year and a half, but during the fall/winter of 16/17 things got kind of crazy with my husband ending up having two surgeries in less than two months, and I stopped working out and thinking about what I was eating. I gained a lot of weight and by the beginning of 2017 I felt I needed a "kick in the rear end" to get myself back on track, and that was only going to happen by doing something completely different to what I had done before. With the thoughts I had had about Boot Camp earlier and all the good things I heard about FMCF the choice was easy!

3. Over the past year what have your results been like?

The past year has been amazing! I have lost 52 lbs of weight thanks to the workouts and keeping track of what I eat. I feel stronger and have more energy than I have ever had before. I truly think that right now at the age of (almost) 39 I am healthier and stronger than I have ever been! When I first started I wasn't able to run 200 m without walking, so the day I actually ran a mile without walking was huge for me! I became friends with running during the past year. One of the things I have gotten to love about CrossFit is that I get to challenge myself in every workout.

4.What do you hope to achieve in 2018?

For this year, I would love to get better at everything that has to do with gymnastics. That is one part that I really struggle with! So - if I would be able to do ONE pull up at the end of 2018 I would be really happy! If I get two? Then we're having a party haha.

5.What is your day like outside the walls of FMCF?

When I'm not working out, I work part time from home as a healthcare administrator for an employer in Sweden. Other than that, I take care of our home and try to keep things running as they should for everyone. I am a mother of two teenagers, fortunately the oldest one got her license a year ago, so only one left for me to drive to and from places. I also go to Zumba class twice a week, I love to dance and it actually loosens sore muscles up too.

6. What is your favorite work out song?

Anything with a good beat! I love Guns 'N Roses.

7. What is essential to have in your gym bag?

Besides my shoes, A TOWEL, my sweat glands are going berserk haha.

8. What's the best "cheat meal"?

Ice cream!! A lot of ice cream!!!
