February Member of the Month Lauren Kniebes

Anything but Lazy

Lauren has been doing CrossFit for some time and has seen many gainz throughout her time with us. She’s seen significant improvement in her cardio (jump roping ability, box jumps, etc.). She credits Fort Miami for teaching her “that dedication and discipline does get you where you want to be.” She and her boyfriend Kyle (“that super fit and good-looking guy at our gym *wink*”) live in Stevensville with their cat Bronx. Not only has she been working super hard on her nutrition and fitness, she does this all while being a small business owner (Lazy Ballerina) and working hard to help build community relationships. She truly exemplifies dedication and hard work. It is for all these reasons that we are very excited to have Lauren as our February Member of the Month.

1. What do you do for a living?

I own Lazy Ballerina Winery with my cousin. 

2. What do you do for fun, other than CF?

Work! Work can be fun. I like visiting local wineries, breweries, restaurants with friends and family and I love attending concerts.

3. Why did you choose FMCF?

I started the Boot Camp program at Fort Miami in January 2017. I wasn’t actually aware at first that it was the same gym my boyfriend Kyle had just started regularly attending. I saw good results just from that program and wanted more and the transition was easy. It was easy to be accountable since Kyle attended the same gym and he helped me understand a lot of the movements and kept me motivated.

4. What is your favorite CrossFit workout/movement?

Clean and Jerks or Thrusters. Anything with a barbell.

5. Who inspires you?

Kyle and honestly everyone who I workout alongside of on a regular basis.

6. Favorite cheat meal?

Pizza. And chocolate.

7. What keeps you coming back to Fort Miami?

The people of course. But you also get addicted to the way you feel after a workout as well as your progress/results and beating the person you were yesterday, last week, last month, last year.

8. Anything else you want to add?

I am someone who never participated in any sort of sports or athletics growing up and I’ve never had much athletic ability. If you’re not an active person, but want to get in shape and want a community of people to support you, consider joining Fort Miami or another CrossFit gym close to you!
