What got you into CrossFit?

”I found CrossFit in 2010 when I was looking for a better and more efficient way to work out. I had been doing stuff in my basement, including some of the more well-known video workouts and found myself really tired of the same things over and over. Then I tried CrossFit. Every day is something different, and I am always working to master techniques. Just when you think you have one thing figured out, there are three more things to learn or perfect.“

What do you love about being a coach?

”The ‘lightbulb moment’ for the athletes. There is nothing more satisfying than someone achieving their first pull up, muscle up, or feeling the weightlessness of a perfectly executed Olympic lift. Pair that with life-changing perceptions about health, wellness and fitness … and that, above all else, is extremely rewarding.“

What’s your favorite workout?

”Anything with wallballs and burpees!“

Kelly Kulich, Owner

FMCF Coach
Level 2 CrossFit Trainer
CrossFit Mobility Certification
The Outlaw Barbell training camp

What got you into CrossFit?

”I originally tried CrossFit because my husband was working out at our house and I wanted to join him. It wasn't until I trained at a facility and started to understand the Olympic Lifts that I truly fell in love. Then I wanted to do a pull-up—and I reached that goal. I love that it's a never-ending process. There is always something to get better at—a new goal to reach for.“

What do you love about being a coach?

”I love showing people what they are capable of. When someone finds strength they didn't know they had, it is a wonderful thing. The pride and excitement I feel when our athletes reach new personal goals is very rewarding. I can't imagine doing anything else.“

What’s your favorite workout?

”I love a workout called the Sevens. It's seven movements, seven reps of each, for seven rounds. It never seems that hard, but it's extremely mentally challenging. I have quit it once and ended up going back and finishing because I couldn't let the workout win. It's humbling for sure!“

Jordan Grimes

What got you into CrossFit?

”Kip dragging me across the street to give it a try. Love the intensity.“

What do you love about being a coach?

”I love seeing the reactions of athletes who achieve a goal they have been striving for—like their first pull up.“

What’s your favorite workout?

”I don’t have a favorite workout. Anything that looks long and awful—I love.“

Jacob Colp

FMCF Coach
Level 2 CrossFit Trainer
CPR and AED certified

What got you into CrossFit?

”Nobody had ever taught me about working out or what fitness looks like. I had played soccer my entire life, and heading into high school, I was looking for a workout program that would help me stay competitive. I tried to do my own thing for a long time and realized it just wasn't working. Then I stumbled upon some CrossFit Games footage, visited FMCF and I’ve been here ever since. What has kept me around so long in CrossFit is the "constantly varied" portion. I love never knowing what to expect and having the freedom to build any workout my mind can dream up. I also look better than I ever have, so that's an added bonus.“

What do you love about being a coach?

”I love being to able to have a tangible impact on a person’s life—where they can point to the scale and say, "I lost weight, and Jacob was a part of that process." I love when people are in the best shape of their life at age 40, and I can feel like I had something to do with it.“

What’s your favorite workout?

”I like Cindy. She doesn't like me, but I like her.“

Nicole Meyer

What got you into CrossFit?

”My husband was doing CrossFit for several years and wanted me to do it, but I was so nervous. I wanted to up my running game and overall fitness and it just so happened that Kip and Kelly had just opened in the back so I thought it would be a good time to try it out with a small group of people and I've been addicted ever since!“

What do you love about being a coach?

”I love helping people discover new strengths in themselves. It is exciting to watch people grow with their fitness and learn about their journey and their reason why they do it! “

What’s your favorite workout?

”A long AMRAP of rope climbs, handstand push-ups, and power cleans.“

Whitney Phillips

What got you into CrossFit?

”I joined CrossFit after my friend Amanda L. had such great results from it. I wasn’t getting want I wanted from the regular gym. Our gym has a great atmosphere and the workouts are programmed for you making it an easy choice. I chose to stick with it because I saw results and I enjoyed seeing myself improve each week.“

What do you love about being a coach?

”The one thing I love about coaching is seeing people accomplish something new, like teaching someone how to get up into a handstand or PR a lift they have been chasing. I also love coaching someone out of the "I can’t do this" and having them break past that mental barrier to "I can do this".“

What’s your favorite workout?

”Grace: For Time 30 Clean-and-Jerks (135/95 lb) Perfect test of strength, cardio and endurance.“

What got you into CrossFit?

”I was pushing 400 lbs. and was tired of a terrible, unhealthy, sedentary lifestyle. CrossFit was the closest experience to the only fitness I'd ever known, which was the military. I had no self-start attitude and I literally needed someone to tell me what, how many, and how long to do something.“

What do you love about being a coach?

”Looking back at my own fitness journey and realizing that if I can do it, anyone can, the biggest reward and the whole reason I chose to become a fitness professional both within and outside of CrossFit was to help others do as I have done and be the strongest versions of themselves.“

What’s your favorite workout?

”Without a doubt it has to be Fight Gone Bad.“

Katie Freeman

Jennifer Garrity

What got you into CrossFit?

”I had been the person watching CrossFit on TV and loved the athlete’s ability to do so much work. My husband and I would sit and watch while eating nachos on the sofa and wondered how they did it. A girlfriend asked me one day to come try and new Metcon class at the new CrossFit gym. CrossFit gym!!! I had no interest in the Metcon class but immediately asked my husband if I was too old to try the CrossFit class. About the turn 42 I was unsure how I’d fit in. I called Kip, he answered all my questions and I was in the next week. No clue what I was doing but inspired by the people around me I kept going back! Three years later I am so happy my friend told me about Fort Miami CrossFit and so glad my husband didn’t think I was too old to start something new....“

What do you love about being a coach?

”My ability to give back drives my coaching. For three years, coaches have been teaching me all I need to know to perform better at CrossFit and I feel like this is my space to give that gift to others. FMCF taught me how to do pull ups again and I love being able to pay that forward to others who wish to do those things too!“

What’s your favorite workout?
